“Glee” Sparks Buzz For My Chemical Romance’s “Sing” on Bieber Episode

Justin Bieber’s music and look might have received the bulk of the attention on Tuesday’s episode of “Glee,” but as far as Internet searchers are concerned, it was the cast’s cover of My Chemical Romance’s “SING” that generated the most excitement.

“Sing It for the World,” a key lyric from the chorus, is currently the most-searched topic on Google. “Glee” often sends queries related to its song lyrics to the Google top twenty, but as of press time, the chart-topping reference to “Sing” is the show’s only presence on that trending list.

That is not to guarantee interest in “Sing,” which originally comes from MCR’s “Danger Days” album, will translate to iTunes sales of the single. As of press time, Chord Overstreet’s cover of “Baby,” arguably Justin Bieber’s most recognizable song, was tracking as the episode’s best sales performer on iTunes. Following closely behind was the Lea Michele-Amber Riley take on “Take Me or Leave Me,” with “Sing” following in third place (for the show).

Hyped as a “Glee” take on Justin Bieber, Tuesday’s episode, entitled “Comeback,” featured Chord Overstreet’s Sam (and later most of the other male New Directions characters) channeling heartthrob Justin Bieber to win the hearts of their female love interests. But with “anthem” as the group’s assigned song theme for the week, Sue Sylvester, who joined the club to simultaneously get out of her funk and go behind enemy lines, felt the Bieber songs were incompatible with the theme–she pushed for the entire group to sing the My Chemical Romance number.

  1. I REALLY love MCR. I have to say, Glle’s cover was amazing. This is by far my favorite MCR song of all time.
