Is Sting Debuting with WWE on “2-21-11,” Undertaker’s Return Date

While WWE concluded Monday’s RAW with attention on Jerry Lawler becoming the number one contender for the WWE Championship, an earlier vignette hyping a debut on February 21, 2011 has captured most of the attention.

The dark video, which was shot on a site that resembled “Jacob’s cabin” from “Lost,” featured an unidentified individual wearing a long trench coat and boots. Speculation has erupted over who is being portrayed in what was WWE’s most captivating “hype video” in recent memory.

Various web rumors are suggesting that Sting is the focal point of the campaign. WWE has definitely been interested in securing Sting for a run, and a debut in three weeks would create a scenario in which the former WCW star could be readied for a Hall of Fame induction and match at WrestleMania weekend in Atlanta.

Some outlets have gone a step further, using the 2-21-11 video as “proof” that Sting has signed a WWE deal and is gearing for a debut on that date.

Given the timeframe and the attire, the video could just as easily be referring to The Undertaker’s return. Local advertising for the 2/21 RAW, in fact, claims that it will mark the “return of the Undertaker,” although there is no reason The Deadman’s return and the subject of that video cannot be mutually exclusive.

One point in favor of the Undertaker rumor is the fact that a YouTube posting of the local advertisement was pulled this afternoon.

The debut of a talent like Awesome Kong is another candidate. While the campaign would seem a bit extensive for a wrestler debuting with WWE’s relatively low-profile Diva division, one can make the case that the cryptic nature of the video is better suited for a wrestler unknown to WWE’s audience. If WWE wanted viewers to get excited about the debut of Sting or the return of Undertaker, there is logic in announcing those plans outright.

  1. i think that people sayin its taker is wrong i kno that they posted something on the steve marts center said taker will be there but another place stated that orton would face cena as champ and miz was actual champ so they could have posted it wrong i dont kno if its sting but i doubt its taker cause smackdown needs him and wwe wants the taker vs barret match at WM27 so i doubt taker will come to raw cause barrets on smackdown.

  2. Undertaker is prolly gonna return on 2/21/11. He always dissapears after he looses a big match and always waits a couple months to come back. Why he always leaves idk, but I do know that if that video was about sting, his famous black baseball bat would have been shown in the video to give the fans some Ideo of who’s commin back. Either way this is gonna be really big for the fans and the profits

  3. I don’t understand why the WWE would want to have sting back. He’s 51 years old and got fired from the last pro wrestling job he had, which was in TNA. Undertaker is the most likely to return because he has been gone for about 2 months and normally returns at this time after he looses a big match like when he lost to Kane in the buried alive match. And the undertaker wouldn’t miss a wrestlemania do this would be the best time to come back. Billseye out

  4. All answers point to Sting. I took it one step further, listen to the words to the Wrestlemania theme song. “Written in the Stars” ther answer is written in the stars. Sting happens to relate to the horoscope sign of Scorpio. So we have the Stinger and the constellation of Scorpio. Vince is a genius.

  5. @Billseye
Fired??? Sting’s contract with TNA is finished lol fired??? both TNA and WWE want sting on their company… yes 51 years old… like how old are you? Sting’s Career is for Hall of Famer Sting and NWO defeated WWF-RAW

  6. How fitting to have taker return to discuss his oppenent for mania as the lights go out and sting arrives to challenge takers streak.

  7. I think its Sting. Why would it be Undertaker returning on Raw? The only reason i watch WWE is cuz of Undertaker and Kane and if they fire or the Undertaker quits WWE would loose a lot more fans (including me) and if they put Sting in the WWE would make a LOT more money and fans and besides look at Ric Flair he didn’t stop till he was like 62 or somethin like that so all im tryin to say is Sting returning would be a huge event and hopefully Undertaker returns too and they have some kind of conflict between each other that leads up to a match at WrestleMania 🙂

  8. o srry forgot SmackDown needs Undertaker like Raw needs (or needed if Sting returns:) John Cena

  9. HEY IT IS STING! IT SAYS ON WIKIPEDIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Lets look at some clues, 1st we dont see Stings bat BUT why would he have it if the WWE hope to keep thier PG rating, so it could be Sting. But Sting and Vince have alot of bad blood, more then he had with Bret. Next clue is the song playing in the back Johnny Cash singing about “no grave can keep me down” sounds like the return of Taker to me, he was buried alive last we seen him. The throw off tho is the actual costume used by the person in the video, Taker does not wear actual cowboy boots, but Sting has in the past. The coat is almost a copy of Takers but his was longer this one is ankle high. I know I didnt answer the question of who it is but I did give us something to think about, lol.

  11. Look everybody imma tell yall the 2 21 11 promo is for both Sting and Taker the 1st promo shows Sting walking to the cabin with mothernature rumbling. The 2nd promo shows taker vanishing into the cabin with grave music playing and the 3rd promo tonite shows Taker walking in the cabin and blows out the candle light after he see Sting outside his window about to walk inside.
