“Little Fockers” Tops “True Grit” In Box Office Debut, Down From “Meet the Fockers”

“Little Fockers” won the box office battle in its Wednesday debut, but it did so with a total 40% less than that of predecessor “Meet the Fockers.”

“Fockers” grabbed first place with $7.3 million, a decline from the $12.1 million Wednesday opener for 2004’s “Meet the Fockers.” With an identical date scheme, that film earned $70.5 million by Sunday, December 26. “Little Fockers” appears to have no chance of reaching that total.

Elsewhere, new release “True Grit” began its run in third place on a total of $5.5 million. The Coen Brothers-led remake fell narrowly behind holdover champ “Tron Legacy,” which grossed $5.7 million Wednesday.

Also in the top five were “Yogi Bear” ($2.9 million) and “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” ($2.5 million).
