NBC’s “Chuck” Could Get Full Season Pickup

Throughout its run, NBC’s “Chuck” has always benefited from circumstance. It was never a huge ratings success, but because it offered a degree of stability amid a struggling NBC lineup, it has managed to consistently survive.

That proclivity for survival could work in “Chuck”‘s favor again.

Entertainment Weekly reports that NBC is working on a deal to order the current season’s back nine. Though that does not mean the show will extend past its fourth season, it certainly means that NBC has not fully written off the spy dramedy.

Though nothing was ever formally declared by the network, many television insiders assumed that “Chuck” would say farewell after its thirteen season four episodes aired. But with none of NBC’s new offerings, including the heavily-hyped “The Event,” clicking in the ratings department and proven series like “The Biggest Loser” and “Law & Order: SVU” also showing weakness, “Chuck”‘s prospects instantly improved. Its low ratings in the Monday at 8PM timeslot are no longer a black spot for the network, and with virtually none of this past season’s development proving fruitful, it seems sensible to stick with a stable performer.

  1. So glad! Love this show. Our flat screen gave out a few months ago, but I can’t wait til Tuesday AM to watch online! Such a fun, laugh out loud, entertaining show.
