The physical release of Lil Wayne’s “I Am Not a Human Being” will keep the sales flame burning as the album looks to move into first place on next week’s chart.
Based on one day sales extensions from Hits Daily Double, the Weezy album is projected to add 85-90,000 copies to its sales tally this week, enough for a comfortable first place finish. Two weeks ago, “Human Being” entered the Billboard 200 in second place on a digital-only sales total of 110,000.
A handful of newcomers are also making chart waves this week. “Charleston, SC 1966,” the latest from Darius Rucker, should net between 65-70,000.
Nickelodeon act Big Time Rush will be right on the Rucker album’s heels. The aggressive promotional campaign for “B.T.R.” is expected to result in a solid first week tally of 60-65,000.
Other debuts include The Band Perry’s self-titled release (forecast for 40-45,000), All That Remains’ “For We Are Many” (25-30,000) and Far East Movement’s “Free Wired” (13-18,000). The lattermost’s tally hardly reflects the popularity of the group’s “Like a G6,” the most-downloaded song in America, but that asymmetry between album sales and pop/hip-hop single performance has been a frequent occurrence in recent years.
