FX Renews Louis CK’s “Louie” for a Second Season

A combination of stellar reviews and passable-enough ratings allowed FX’s “Louie” to score a second season.

Combining elements of “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” albeit in a much darker, offbeat voice, the half-hour “Louie” intersects segments of Louis CK performing stand-up with semi-autobiographical shorts about his life as a comedian dealing with a divorce.

After premiering to a decent number for its 11PM Tuesday night timeslot, the show has suffered a notable ratings decline. The critical darling has nonetheless attracted enough eyeballs to warrant more time on the cable network.

As confirmed at the network’s TCA session, the second season calls for thirteen episodes.
