The new series garnered a total of 7.6 million viewers, retaining nearly all of “The Closer”‘s 7.7 million watchers. Among adults 18-49, the show achieved viewership of 2.1 million, while its adults 25-54 figure came in at 2.7 million.

“The tremendous viewer response to Rizzoli & Isles is very gratifying,” said Michael Wright of TNT. “Rizzoli & Isles is shaping up to be a great companion for The Closer, which continues to deliver extraordinary numbers in its sixth season on our network.”

“The Closer,” which was up 5% in total viewers over last year’s premiere, averaged 2.0 million in adults 18-49 and 2.7 million in 25-54.
