ABC Not Picking Up “Ghost Whisperer,” Show Officially Done

“Ghost Whisperer” executive producers Kim Moss and Ian Sander confirmed late Thursday that the long-running supernatural series will not be returning for a sixth season.

The show, which starred Jennifer Love-Hewitt, was canceled by CBS earlier this month. Hope remained, however, as there was buzz that ABC was considering picking up the show for a sixth season.

Ultimately, talks to move the show to ABC fell through, and the show’s run is officially over. The producers issued the following statement, which was posted by EW and Deadline Thursday night:

“After five wonderful seasons and over 100 episodes, we are disappointed to announce Ghost Whisperer will not be returning for a sixth season. We’ve had an incredible experience and owe a debt of gratitude to everyone involved. We continue our relationship with ABC Studios and look forward to developing many more successful projects together in the future.”

  1. Ugghhh … That is so disappointing!!! Hopefully in the future they will make a spin off where Aiden is the main character or something. This show will be greatly missed by many!!!

  2. Sad to hear ABC’s decision was NOT to pick up this excellent show. Not only did I watch new episodes on Friday nights, but I also watched reruns every night on ION and satellite channels 244 and/or 260.

JLH, the cast and the show will be greatly missed. Now it’s a must…I will go out and buy the five seasons on DVD!

  3. I think you guys are retarded and dumb for not picking up ghost whisperer. That was a excellent show. I was a faithful watcher. I guess you’ll probably put some stupid reality tv show on instead. like any of us need more of those on tv. tv is becoming stupid and no will want to watch tv anymore. you guys made a horrible mistake. I will definately miss the show. Hopefully someother tv show will bring it back.

  4. I agree with Joleen. Reality TV sucks and the networks don’t seem to be listening to the public about it either!! This was an awesome show! Now we get no wrap up or closure to anything? This is stupid! They keep medium on but cancel the better show??? Friday night TV will go back to sucking now and I won’t be watching. I feel like boycotting stations that pick up reality shows and dump great shows like this one!

  5. I am so disappointed… I am done with CBS, I watched Ghost Whisperer, Numbers, Cold Case, and all of them canceled shows… I guess I will not be watching television on Friday nights anymore. This is the saddest thing.. Waited all summer long to see the next season. Who picks what stays and what goes? 10 year olds? My whole family and friends all watched these great shows.. We would get together later and talk about each episode… Well byebye to you CBS…..I hope you realize how stupid your decisions are…..

  6. I am so super upset. I missed a few seasons when I lost cable so for the past for months I have recorded every episode and I just finished the fifth season finale tonight and went to check out when the next would start and found this. I AM SO PISSED!! It was my only addiction and now its gone. I’m a stay at home mom and me and Jennifer have hung out every night for months now I will be going to bed early and I officially HATE CBS!!

  7. I don’t care what the original post says, my Tassimo is the best thing I’ve ever tasted when it comes to single cup hot beverages. The unit can fit HUGE travel mugs just by simply taking the bottom piece out, so what was originally posted just isn’t true. And as for the cost, I’m not sure where the 56 cent thing comes from. I get 16 pods for $5.99 at my local grocery store (and I live in small town Canada so why the heck can’t the original poster find these discs??) which works out to 37 cents per cup. Even if you get the high end Starbucks coffee (which are readily available at my little grocery store), that works out to 83 cents per cup and what did you pay the last time you were at Starbucks for a coffee?? It wasn’t under a buck. And now with the new design, you aren’t going to find many detractors in that department either. As for noise, have any of you heard an actual Cappuccino/Espresso machine before? I’ll take the Tassimo thank you.
