More on WWE’s Twitter Crackdown, WWE Promotes Nickelback

— Though some have mocked reports that WWE management advised wrestlers to restrict their Twitter usage, statistics indicate that Tweets from WWE Superstars have declined by more than 50% since the directive was allegedly put in place. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the rule is basically to use the site as a promotional vehicle rather than to spill personal life gossip–wrestlers were particularly advised not to use the site after midnight, since it increases the likelihood of undesirable commentary making it onto a public forum.

— As part of the hype behind the use of Nickelback’s “Burn it to the Ground” as the new WWE RAW theme song, the WWE website began plugging the top-selling rock band. A post under the “WWE Tunes” section of WWE.com plus the YouTube debut of the video for “Never Gonna Be Alone.”
