WWE Bragging Rights News – Why Was Ironman Clock Stopped?

PWInsider.com reports that the Ironman match clock was briefly stopped to accomodate John Cena’s unexpected bloodshed.

According to sources, Cena was not slated to “juice” when hit with the microphone during his title match against Randy Orton; accidental contact with the sharp corner of the microphone resulted in unplanned bloodflow.

Upon seeing the cut, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon called for trainers and talent head John Laurinaitis to clean up the situation. Cena and Orton were scheduled to brawl in the crowd later in the bout, and McMahon did not want the image or liability issues associated with exposing audience members to legitimate blood.
