News On WWE Championship, CM Punk’s Turn, Batista

From the release of Umaga, to Batista’s injury to the ambiguity of the WWE Championship situation, the first three days of this week have made it one of the most active WWE news periods of the year. A number of updates are available on these breaking stories.

— As of press time, WWE had not made a final decision regarding the WWE Championship. It is almost definite that Batista will be stripped of the title, although WWE’s specific plan has not yet been decided. There was talk of running a title tournament next week on RAW, although with the other two major titles (ECW, World) slated for defenses, there is an internal feeling that holding a full-fledged tournament might be overkill.

— Regarding Batista, while his injury should keep him out of action for about four months, there has been some talk of keeping him off television until early next year; in time for a return at the Royal Rumble.

WWE Smackdown Sydney Press Conference

— CM Punk has been booked as a heel on upcoming house show cards, so it appears WWE is indeed going ahead with the turn.
