More On WWE vs. Nuggets Controversy

No resolution has yet been reached regarding the “Pepsi Center controversy.” As of press time, both the NBA Western Conference Finals game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets and Monday’s edition of WWE RAW are booked for the Denver arena.

But, as of right now, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon says his company’s production trucks and wrestlers will indeed be traveling to Denver to hold RAW.

“When you do have a date, you plan everything around it,” said McMahon to the Associated Press, adding, “we may be holding an event in a parking lot somewhere.”

In an earlier press release issued by WWE, McMahon criticized Denver Nuggets ownership’s willingness to allow WWE to book the date last August; he contends that ownership did not have “enough faith” in its team’s ability to reach this stage of the NBA Playoffs.

Having booked the date nearly a year ago, WWE anticipates a sellout crowd for the event and thus feels it cannot allow the Nuggets to “throw [them] out on [their] ear.”

As of right now, the NBA has refused to formally address the matter, arguing that it should be resolved by the team and WWE.

“The Nuggets and the WWE understand that the date of Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals cannot be changed,” said Mike Bass, NBA senior vice president. “We are confident that the Pepsi Center and the WWE will resolve their scheduling conflict.”
