Major Lazer’s red-hot “Lean On (featuring DJ Snake & MØ)” is officially platinum in the United States.
The song, which is soaring at pop radio and now positioned within the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, earned the distinction on August 12, 2015.
Under the terms of the RIAA’s Digital Singles program, a platinum certification confirms a US unit total in excess of 1 million. A unit is equal to 1 sale or 100 streams.
Since it had not previously been certified by the RIAA, “Lean On” also received a retroactive gold label on August 12.
