Maddie & Tae’s “Girl in a Country Song” Earns Platinum Distinction

When the duo’s “Girl in a Country Song” reached #1 at radio, many identified Maddie & Tae as girls with a #1 country song.

As of August 12, 2015, the music world can identify Maddie & Tae as girls with a platinum country song.

Maddie & Tae’s breakthrough hit has officially earned a platinum certification. Per the terms of RIAA’s digital singles program, that distinction confirms a digital unit total in excess of 1 million.

A digital unit is equal to 1 sale or 100 streams.

“Girl in a Country Song,” which reached #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and #3 on Hot Country Songs, appears on the duo’s upcoming “Start Here.”

That album, which also features current single “Fly,” arrives on August 28.
