Ratings: HBO’s “Girls” Slips But Still Has Most Watched Finale Since Season 1

Season finales are generally viewed as special attractions, but for HBO’s “Girls,” they have played host to week-over-week viewership declines on multiple occasions.

The season two and season three finales both suffered such losses. Season four’s did as well.

While the penultimate season four episode drew a 0.30 rating with 701,000 viewers, Sunday’s “Girls” season finale scored a 0.26 adults 18-49 rating with 687,000 viewers. It was the least-watched “Girls” episode in three weeks.

Interestingly, it was the most-watched finale since the season one conclusion. That episode drew 1.00 million viewers.

The season two finale attracted only 632,000 viewers, while the season three final garnered 670,000.

— HBO followed “Girls” with the season finale of “Looking.” It drew a 0.12 adults 18-49 rating with 298,000 viewers.
