The numbers for the April 17-21 late-night programs have been released, and they confirm that “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” again drew more viewers than “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
CBS touts that “Colbert” averaged 2.83 million viewers across the five telecasts. “Fallon” drew 2.59 million.
This marks the twelfth consecutive week in which “The Late Show” has outdrawn “The Tonight Show” in total viewership.
Not since the period between October 10, 2009 and January 15, 2010 (then “The Late Show With David Letterman” vs. “The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien”) has “The Late Show” enjoyed a reign of that length.
— It should be noted, however, that “The Tonight Show” remains the top late-night talk show in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic. NBC, in fact, notes that the show enjoyed its biggest margin of victory in the demo (0.64 vs. 0.49; 42%) since January.
