Despite launching late in the tracking period, Green Day’s “Bang Bang” debuted at #17 on last week’s Mediabase alternative airplay chart.
It may reach the Top 10 this week.
The new single received 521 spins during the first two days of the August 14-20 tracking period. The count positions “Bang Bang” at #9 on Mediabase’s building chart.
Because the week is still young — and because airplay for new songs can be erratic — one cannot yet guarantee “Bang Bang” will reach the Top 10.
What one can say with certainty, however, is that alternative radio is expressing significant early interest in the single.
