Carrie Underwood has recorded a new song for “Sunday Night Football,” and it is set to one of her own hits.
Entitled “Oh, Sunday Night,” the county-rock-pop fusion is set to the music of “Somethin’ Bad,” Underwood’s collaboration with Miranda Lambert.
Underwood worked with “Somethin’ Bad” co-writers Chris DeStefano, Brett James and Priscilla Renea to rewrite the lyrics for “Sunday Night Football.” DeStefano produced “Oh, Sunday Night” with Mark Bright.
“Earlier this offseason, Carrie said she had a special idea for a new SNF open song,” said “SNF” executive producer Fred Gaudelli. “When we got into the recording studio in Nashville, the song instantly came to life, and will be a dynamic addition to our show.”
“I love being part of the Sunday Night Football family and can’t wait for the fans to hear the new theme song,” said Underwood, who enters her fourth year performing the “SNF” opening.
The new song will debut as the introduction to the Sunday, September 11 game between the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals.
“Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” the franchise’s previous song, was set to Joan Jett’s “I Hate Myself For Loving You.”
