FOX’s “American Grit” Premieres To Soft Ratings; Matches “Strong” in Demo

The premiere of FOX’s “American Grit” predictably failed to make much noise.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, the John Cena-hosted reality competition drew a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating and 2.43 million total live+same-day viewers Thursday night. It was the 9PM timeslot’s #4 program, besting The CW’s “The 100” but trailing ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” CBS’ comedies, and NBC’s “The Blacklist.”

The modest 0.8 adults 18-49 rating, interestingly, matches that drawn by NBC’s “Strong” in the 8PM hour. Older-skewing, “Strong” nonetheless posted a stronger viewership tally of 3.24 million.

FOX led into “American Grit” with “Bones,” which drew a 0.9 and 4.36 million viewers.

In scheduling “American Grit” on Thursdays, FOX interestingly positioned its John Cena-hosted show against USA’s weekly WWE SmackDown! broadcast.
