Though not spectacular, the live+same-day ratings for Freeform’s “Shadowhunters” have been respectable by modern cable standards. They have also been reasonably consistent in the weeks since the series premiere.
“Shadowhunters,” moreover, boasts a passionate fanbase and generates a considerable level of social engagement.
Those factors — along with its brand value — have led to a second season renewal.
The cast made the announcement during a live Facebook chat Monday.
Specific details on when season two will premiere are not yet available; the first season concludes on April 5.
