Update: Whereas Orlando’s 101.9 AMP played coy with its comment regarding the new Rihanna single, New York’s 92.3 AMP outright confirmed it.

“. @rihanna has a BRAND NEW SINGLE and @shoboyshow is WORLD PREMIERING it tomorrow [Wednesday] at 8am [ET],” Tweeted the station.

Over the past few months, Rihanna fans have learned to take stories about new music and confirmed release dates with a grain of salt.

The latest rumor does, however, appear to possess merit.

According to multiple industry sources, a new Rihanna single is scheduled to make its radio debut at 8AM ET on Wednesday, January 27.

While no official representative — whether for Rihanna, Def Jam, or the radio community — will explicitly confirm the story, one radio station offered a very strong signal of its accuracy.

“Listen tomorrow morning at 8am to score @Rihanna tix when you hear something ‘new,'” Tweeted Orlando’s 101.9 AMP Radio.

An accompanying article adds, “Listen Wednesday morning to score tickets to see Rihanna…What are you listening for?…Something ‘new’ at 8am!…We can’t say what…but we do know that as soon as you hear it, you will want to call.”

— Additional rumors claim Drake appears as a featured artist on the new single. The answer to whether he does — and to whether a new Rihanna single is even launching — will come in just over 12 hours.
