Alessia Cara’s breakthrough hit is now a double-platinum-certified single in the United States.
According to the RIAA, Cara’s “Here” officially earned its multi-platinum stripes on January 7, 2016. Since it had only previously been certified gold, it also retroactively received a single platinum distinction.
Under the terms of the RIAA’s digital singles program, the platinum certification confirms a US unit total of at least 2 million. One unit is equal to 1 paid download or 100 streams.
Cara’s single, which reached #1 on the rhythmic airplay chart, has thus far peaked at #7 on the overall Hot 100.
