Years & Years’ “Communion” Debuted with ~9K First Week US Sales (Updated)

Update: Nielsen Music has recalculated its official sales data.

The updated data confirms that Years & Years’ “Communion” was actually the week’s 23rd-best-selling album. The original report, which said the album moved 8,841 pure first week copies, listed the album at #29 on the Top Album Sales chart.

An updated sales figure was not available at press time, but it likely falls into the same ~9,000 range.

Years & Years’ “Communion,” which debuted atop the UK album sales chart, ranked as America’s 29th-best-seller during its first week of release.

According to Nielsen Music, “Communion” moved 8,841 pure copies during the July 10-16 tracking week. That earned it the #29 position on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart.

It trailed Tyrese’s “Black Rose,” “Kidz Bop 29,” R5’s “Sometime Last Night,” Between the Buried and Me’s “Coma Ecliptic” and Owl City’s “Mobile Orchestra” as the week’s sixth-best-selling new release.

“Communion” includes the single “King,” which reached the Top 40 on the US pop radio airplay chart.
