Update: Voting for season eight of NBC’s “The Voice” has officially concluded.
When that final voting deadline arrived at 12PM ET, songs from three of the four hopefuls were positioned in the top ten on the all-genre iTunes single sales chart.
Ambiguity exists regarding whether a multiplier bonus will be applied to those songs (the official rules say it will, previous practice says it will not), but there is no uncertainty about the fact that each song sale will count for at least one vote. In addition to signaling a broadly favorable audience reaction, songs that reached the top ten therefore provided the associated contestants with healthy amounts of iTunes votes.
At the close of voting, Sawyer Fredericks’ “Please” (#2) and “Old Man” (#3) were the highest-charting offerings. Meghan Linsey’s “Change My Mind” followed at #5, while Joshua Davis scored a Top 10 single in “The Workingman’s Hymn” (#9). “Please,” “Change My Mind” and “The Workingman’s Hymn” are original recordings.
While those four songs were the only “The Voice” recordings to reach the top ten this week, many of the other finale numbers charted very well. Here is how all twelve “The Voice” songs were positioned when voting closed.

In addition to this week’s sales data, the finale’s iTunes Vote total also includes each contestant’s cumulative vote total (sales for eligible songs between April 6 at 9:55PM ET and May 19 at 12PM ET).

For the third consecutive Tuesday, the top ten of the iTunes single sales chart features two Sawyer Fredericks songs and one Meghan Linsey song.
As of 1:30AM ET, Fredericks is represented by his original song “Please” (#2) and his cover of “Old Man” (#4). Linsey is charting at #7 courtesy her original song “Change My Mind.”
The two “Voice” contestants competed in Monday’s final performance show on behalf of Team Pharrell and Team Blake, respectively.
Unlike the past two weeks, Fredericks and Linsey may not be the only “Voice” contestants with presences in the iTunes Top 10. As of press time, Team Adam’s Joshua Davis is at #13 with his original song “The Workingman’s Hymn.” While the sales landscape is presently very competitive, the song stands a solid chance of reaching the Top 10 by the time voting closes at 12PM ET.
Davis’ cover of “Hallelujah” (#16), Koryn Hawthorne’s original song “Bright Fire” (#17) and Meghan Linsey’s take on “When a Man Loves a Woman” (#18) are also approaching the top ten. They will doubtfully all reach the Top 10, but their quick ascent into the Top 20 is still demonstrative of clear audience resonance.
As is always the case regarding the final “The Voice” performance show, ambiguity surrounds the question of whether songs can receive iTunes multiplier bonuses this week. The official rules explicitly state that the contestants’ solo songs are eligible for 10x multiplier bonuses, but previous seasons nixed the bonus during the final week of competition.
