Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” Stays #1 on Hot Country Songs; Sales Hit 713K

The music world’s crush on Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” remains intact, and the song consequently spends a second straight week at the pinnacle of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

In doing so, it ties the two-week streak achieved by Little Big Town’s 2012 smash (and only other career Hot Country #1) “Pontoon.”

Not simply country’s best overall performer, “Girl Crush” also ranks as the genre’s best-selling single for a third straight week. Nielsen Music says the single drove 81,442 paid US downloads during the April 27-May 3 tracking week.

Down 26% from last week’s ACM Awards-boosted total, it nonetheless ranked as the country genre’s best by a margin of roughly 23,000. It also brings the song’s cumulative US sales total to a healthy 713,041.

“Girl Crush” holds at its #2 peak on Country Streaming Songs and #19 peak on Country Airplay. Sam Hunt’s “Take Your Time” tops the former, while Dierks Bentley’s “Say You Do” is #1 on the latter.

— Not simply a force on the country-specific charts, “Girl Crush” also registers well on the overall Billboard Hot 100 (#24) and Billboard Digital Songs (#11) listings. While down from last week’s respective peaks of #18 and #3, its all-genre rankings are considerably stronger than those typically achieved by country songs.
