While it drew a slightly stronger audience, NBC’s post-Super Bowl edition of “The Blacklist” drew a weaker adults 18-49 rating than that drawn by FOX’s 2014 post-Super Bowl airing of “New Girl.”
According to NBC, Sunday’s “The Blacklist” scored an 8.7 adults 18-49 rating with 26.50 million viewers. “New Girl” drew an 11.4 with 26.30 million viewers last year.
Even with lead-out “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” included (6.9, 15.07 million), FOX’s 2014 post-Super Bowl broadcast would still win the race with a 9.2 overall adults 18-49 rating.
“The Blacklist” did, however, comfortably outdraw CBS’ 2013 post-Super Bowl edition of “Elementary.” That broadcast commanded a 7.8 rating with 20.86 million.
Sunday’s “The Blacklist” received lead-in support from the most-watched Super Bowl (and television program) in history. NBC’s coverage of the Patriots vs. Seahawks drew a monstrous viewership average of 114.4 million.
