Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” is Pop’s Greatest Airplay Gainer

Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” cruised to number one on this week’s official Mediabase pop radio chart, but it endured significant deceleration in its pursuit of that crown.

After adding 2,241 spins to its weekly play count last week, “Bass” only improved its total by 895 this week. That deceleration allowed Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off,” which was the pop format’s #3 song this week, to claim possession of the greatest airplay gainer label.

The weekly “Shake” spin count of 14,186 (tracked between September 14 and 20) comes courtesy an increase of 1,261 over the prior week’s sum.

Other big gainers at pop this week include Nick Jonas’ #27 “Jealous” (+1,141), Calvin Harris’ #26 “Blame” (+1,087) and Iggy Azalea’s #6 “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” (+951). The aforementioned “Bass” was pop’s fifth-greatest gainer.
