Ratings: FX’s “The Strain” Hits Series Low Sunday

Already renewed for a second season by a network that claims it no longer focuses on live+same-day ratings, those behind FX’s “The Strain” do not need to aggressively stress over its weekly adults 18-49 and total viewership marks.

And whatever stressing the team typically does was certainly reduced for this Sunday’s broadcast, which aired on the eve of Labor Day.

But facts are ultimately facts, and they confirm that “The Strain” did deliver its weakest performance yet Sunday night.

Sunday’s edition of “The Strain” posted a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating with 1.91 million viewers. It was the drama’s first episode to garner less than a 1.0 rating and less than 2 million viewers.

The program nonetheless ranked third for the night among cable originals (behind only “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and ESPN’s NASCAR coverage) and delivered considerably stronger numbers than those regularly delivered by FX’s other summer dramas.
