Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” is Already Top 40 at Pop

Available for only a few hours Monday, Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” nonetheless amassed enough airplay to rank as one of pop radio’s Top 40 songs for the past seven days.

According to Mediabase, “Shake it Off” earned an impressive 842 pop spins in its first partial day of availability. That put it in the #40 slot on the real-time edition of the publication’s chart, which measures airplay from August 12-August 18.

The song’s audience impression count of 6.88 million, meanwhile, ranks as the week’s 33rd-largest at pop radio.

Combined with strong sales and immense interest in the music video, the first week airplay should be enough to send “Shake it Off” to the #1 position on next week’s Billboard Hot 100.

Billboard, meanwhile, says the first two days of airplay alone might actually be enough to land the Swift song somewhere on this week’s edition of the Hot 100.
