Update: For the first time, “24: Live Another Day” enjoyed a week-over-week ratings increase.
According to Nielsen Fast National data, Monday’s episode delivered a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating with 6.18 million viewers. The demo number bested last week’s rating by 20%; the show’s viewership averaged increased by 8%.
Helping the cause for “24” was the show’s “Masterchef” lead-in, which enjoyed marked improved ratings sans the impact of Memorial Day (and provided the best “24” lead-in support this year). After posting a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating in the preceding half hour last week, “Masterchef” this week posted a 1.9 demo rating in the 8:30PM half hour.
The fact that ratings for “24” declined as the episode progressed–the show posted a 1.9 from 9-9:30PM and a 1.7 from 9:30-10PM–strongly suggests that the improved “Masterchef” audience spilled over into “24.”
=========
After weeks of noteworthy declines, FOX’s “24: Live Another Day” finally enjoyed an uptick–at least in the overnight metered market ratings.
While there is no guarantee the improvement will also emerge in the adults 18-49 and total viewership numbers, it does exist in the preliminary household rating.
Monday’s episode drew a 4.8 overnight household rating, which represents a 12% improvement over last week’s 4.3.
It also represents a stronger number than the 4.6 posted by the May 19 episode.
Last week’s 4.3 translated into a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating with 5.7 million viewers. The 4.6 on May 19 appeared as a 1.7 with 5.7 million viewers.
