Surprise is not the word to describe the list of nominees for this year’s Academy Awards ceremony.
Released Thursday morning, the year’s list of Oscar nominees departs little from critical consensus and the makeup of this past Sunday’s Golden Globes ceremony.
Save for the absence of “Inside Llewyn Davis” in the Best Picture race, Tom Hanks in the Best Actor race and Emma Thompson, few omissions warrant the “snub” label.
