“Voice” Winner Tessanne’s “Tumbling Down” Starts Slowly on iTunes

In the final two weeks of the competition, eventual “The Voice” winner Tessanne Chin emerged as massive force on iTunes.

Last week, her semifinals rendition of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” shot to number one on iTunes’ overall single sales chart. This week, “I Have Nothing,” her final competitive number on the show, accomplished the same feat. “Let it Be,” her duet with coach Adam Levine, also impressed with an ascent into the Top 5 on iTunes.

It seems, however, that the ticket to Chin’s iTunes success is a cover song.

“Tumbling Down,” the original, Ryan Tedder-penned single she debuted after winning the competition Tuesday, is climbing the iTunes charts at a far slower pace.

By 3PM ET on Wednesday, it had only lifted to number 45. At press time, many of the recordings from Monday’s performance show claimed higher rankings on the chart.

While “Tumbling Down” could still ascend into impressive chart territory–and even stay there if it gains any traction in the music world–it is clear that buying interest is far lighter than it was for her vote-eligible covers.
