Cain Velasquez Dominates Bigfoot Silva, JDS Beats Hunt; UFC 160 Results

It wasn’t as bloody as their first bout, but the outcome was the same: an easy first-round victory for Cain Velasquez.

After dominating Junior dos Santos to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship in a five-round affair, the champ needed less than half of one round to send Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva to the back of the line.

Silva shrugged off two early takedown attempts from Cain, but takedown defense provides no immunity against brutal right hands to the jaw. Velasquez cracked Silva with one at about the minute mark, and he followed up with ground-and-pound until the referee stopped the fight at 1:21.

Earlier in the night, Junior dos Santos used superior speed and poise to pick Mark Hunt apart on the feet. After more than two rounds of control, JDS put Hunt down with a spinning heel kick and ground-and-pound to score victory at 4:18 of Round Three.

The night was not only about heavyweights, however. Glover Teixeira solidified himself as a top light heavyweight contender with quick guillotine submission win over James Te Huna, while TJ Grant beat Gray Maynard in the first round of their affair to become the top potential challenger at lightweight. Donald Cerrone opened the pay-per-view by outclassing fellow lightweight KJ Noons.
