As if WWE’s stacked “RAW 1000” episode needed another high-profile segment.
Following the storyline dismissal of John Laurinaitis from his General Manager role, WWE announced that it would name a permanent replacement on the 1000th episode of RAW. In anticipation of that announcement, WWE revealed that it would allow a former general manager to serve as interim authority figures in the weeks leading up to that milestone episode.
Then, suddenly, the general manager tease was dropped this past Monday night. RAW featured neither an interim general manager nor any advertising for the big permanent GM announcement on next week’s show. Many figured that with the DX reunion, Brock Lesnar’s return, The Rock’s return, a Mick Foley appearance, CM Punk vs. John Cena, the Daniel Bryan-AJ wedding and a host of other surprises, WWE made the call to postpone the general manager reveal to a future RAW, when it will need to fill a three hour show with considerably less star power.
A WWE.com article published this weekend, however, reiterates the company’s plans to make that announcement this Monday night. The article, which looks at past interim general managers, notes, “After months of a revolving door of Interim General Managers, a Permanent GM will finally be chosen Monday night.”
