Three weeks after releasing the first season, Netflix officially renewed “Baby” for season two.
The show’s official Instagram account shared news of the renewal Friday morning. Principal cast members in the show, including leads Benedetta Porcaroli and Alice Pagani, subsequently posted their own renewal announcements.
Released on November 30, the Italian series follows “the unseen lives of Roman high schoolers.” A key plotline draws inspiration from the “Baby Squillo” case, in which two teenagers engaged in sex work to raise money for luxury items.
On the show, disillusioned in-crowd member Chiara (Porcaroli) and rebellious outcast Ludo (Pagani) play girls who ultimately foray into escorting. Far from the sole narrative for the show (or even for the two key characters), the escort storyline is merely one facet of a coming-of-age teen drama filled with betrayal, romantic affairs, and even a pivotal death.
Other key cast members include Riccardo Mandolini, Chabeli Sastre, Brando Pacitto, Lorenzo Zurzolo and Giuseppe Maggio.
The first season consisted of six episodes.
