It was a foregone conclusion that J. Cole’s “KOD” would rank as the best-selling and most-consumed album for the April 20-26 tracking period.
The question was how dominantly it would perform on those fronts.
Hits Daily Double just provided an indication.
Based on early data, the publication expects “KOD” to sell 140-155,000 pure US copies this week. With TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) included, the album should generate 375-390,000 in overall consumption units.
The big consumption lift is a product of the song’s mammoth early streaming numbers.
With numbers like those, “KOD” is clearly headed for a #1 debut on this week’s key album charts. The pure sales tally should earn “KOD” #1 on the Billboard Top Album Sales listing, while the consumption figure will produce a #1 bow on the Billboard 200.
“KOD” is the follow-up to J. Cole’s “4 Your Eyez Only,” which debuted with 363K pure sales and 492K total units.
