With many pop radio stations devoting attention to Christmas music and year-end countdowns, many active singles endured airplay losses this week.

That was not the case for Dua Lipa’s “New Rules,” which posted a week-over-week gain in spins. It received 12,586 spins during the December 24-30 tracking period, topping last week’s mark by 223 plays.

More importantly, the song enjoys a positional rise on the Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.

Up two places, “New Rules” earns #4 on the listing.

In doing so, it becomes the singer-songwriter’s first Top 5 hit at US pop radio.

Not simply a successful song, “New Rules” is a good one. It takes #19 on Headline Planet’s list of the year’s best pop hits.
