Sam Smith & Normani’s “Dancing With A Stranger” is on track to reach #1 on this week’s Mediabase hot adult contemporary radio chart.

“Dancing” received 4,806 spins during the first six days of the May 5-11 tracking period. Up 9% from the count at this point last week, the tally slots the single at #1 on Mediabase’s building/real-time chart.

Ellie Goulding & Diplo’s building #2 “Close To Me (featuring Swae Lee)” only trails by 59 spins, but “Dancing” has the clear momentum advantage. Whereas the Sam Smith-Normani collaboration is up 9% from last week’s count, the Goulding-Diplo-Lee release is down 5%. If both songs remain on their current trajectories, “Dancing With A Stranger” will close the week at #1.
