Sam Smith & Normani’s “Dancing With A Stranger,” which moved up to #11 on last week’s Mediabase pop radio airplay chart, should jump into the Top 10 this week.

“Stranger” received 8,277 spins during the first six days of the March 10-16 tracking period. Up over 5% from the count at this point last week, the tally slots the collaboration at #10 on Mediabase’s building/real-time chart.

“Stranger” only maintains a slight lead over Marshmello & Bastille’s building #11 “Happier,” but it has the clear momentum advantage. Whereas it is up by 5% from last week, “Happier” is down by 6%. There is no indication that either song will switch its trajectory before the chart goes final.

Post Malone’s building #12 “Wow.” seemed like a threat earlier in the week, but it no longer has an obvious chance of challenging for #10.

As a result, it is safe to assume “Dancing With A Stranger” will maintain its position.

— “Dancing With A Stranger” may also hit the Top 10 at hot adult contemporary radio this week. Credited with 2,741 Hot AC spins during the aforementioned six-day window, it currently holds #10 on Mediabase’s building chart for the format.

It does not, however, maintain a definitive lead over P!nk’s building #11 “Walk Me Home,” which is gaining spins at a faster pace.

“Dancing With A Stranger” is still tracking slightly ahead of “Walk Me Home,” but because the race is so close, it is too early to guarantee a Top 10 finish for the Sam Smith-Normani track.
