While the race is presently too close to make any guarantees, Halsey’s “Without Me” is definitely in contention for #1 on this week’s Mediabase pop radio chart.

The smash hit single is actually in the lead as of press time.

“Without Me” received 10,962 spins during the first four days of the January 20-26 tracking period. Up 5% from the count at this point last week, the tally slots “Without Me” at #1 on Mediabase’s building chart.

Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next,” last week’s #1 song, sits at #2 on the building chart. It received 10,927 spins during the aforementioned four-day window.

Given its mere 35-spin advantage, “Without Me” is by no means a lock for #1 on the final chart. It does, however, maintain a clear momentum advantage. Whereas it is up 5% from last week’s count, “thank u, next” is only up 2%.

If both songs remain on those trajectories, “Without Me” will retain its #1 position as the chart goes final. And even if it misses #1 this week, it seems like a safe bet to get there next week (especially given the impact Grande’s new “7 rings” may have on airplay for “thank u, next”).

“Without Me” would represent Halsey’s first solo #1 at pop radio. She previously topped the chart as a featured artist on The Chainsmokers’ “Halsey” and as part of the “Him & I” collaboration with G-Eazy.
