Childish Gambino’s “Redbone” and “This Is America” both received key Grammy nominations (“Redbone” at the 2018 show, “This Is America” for the 2019 ceremony).

Earlier this month, both received new multi-platinum awards in the United States.

According to the RIAA, “Redbone” attained 5x platinum on December 12, 2018. The award confirms 5 million in US units; each unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.

“This Is America” concurrently attained 2x platinum status, signifying 2 million in US units.

“Redbone” peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100. “This Is America” hit #1.
