5 Seconds Of Summer’s “Youngblood” Approaching #1 At Pop Radio

“Youngblood” may challenge for #1 as soon as this week.

Already the band’s first Top 5 hit at pop radio, 5 Seconds Of Summer’s “Youngblood” is expected to become the group’s first #1 at the format.

It may reach the apex of the Mediabase pop chart as soon as this week.

“Youngblood” received 12,392 spins during the first five days of the September 23-29 tracking period. Up 11% from the count at this point last week, the tally slots “Youngblood” at #2 on the building/real-time chart.

The tally also brings “Youngblood” within striking distance of the #1 position. Khalid x Normani’s “Love Lies,” the reigning #1, received 12,540 spins during the aforementioned five day window.

“Youngblood,” moreover, possesses the clear momentum advantage. Whereas it is up 11% from last week, “Love Lies” is down 6%.

If they remain on those rough trajectories, “Youngblood” would claim a narrow lead by the close of tracking on Saturday.

And even if it misses #1 this week, it would presumably be a lock for the top spot the following week.

Prior to “Youngblood,” 5SOS had never gone higher than #13 on the Mediabase pop chart (“She’s Kinda Hot”).
