Ratings: HBO’s “Sharp Objects” Enjoys Big Gain In Week Five

“Sharp Objects” enjoyed a week-over-week gain in viewership.

Sharp Objects Graphic - HBO

For the first time this season, an episode of HBO’s “Sharp Objects” posted week-over-week gains in adults 18-49 and overall viewership.

According to live+same-day data posted by Showbuzz, Sunday’s episode drew a 0.36 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 1.17 million overall viewers. The numbers top the 0.24 rating and 0.93 million viewer mark posted by last week’s episode.

This week’s episode – the show’s fifth broadcast – was actually the highest-rated and most-watched episode since the July 8 series premiere (0.45 rating, 1.54 million viewers).

While “Sharp Objects” has not yet emerged as a breakout ratings hit, its audience is decent by typical cable standards. This week’s gain should also serve to ease concerns about waning interest.

As is typical for HBO shows, “Sharp Objects” also receives big lifts from encore, DVR, on-demand and streaming viewership.
