“Boo’d Up” will move up to #2 on this week’s rhythmic radio chart.

Ella Mai’s “Boo’d Up” rose to #3 on this past week’s Mediabase rhythmic radio chart.

It will move into the Top 2 this week.

The breakthrough hit received 1,594 spins during the first two days of the July 15-21 tracking period. Up 12.3% from the count at this point last week, the tally slots #2 on the building rhythmic chart.

As it does not face a clear threat from below, it should have no trouble retaining its position through the close of tracking.

The real question is whether it can get to #1 later this summer. Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin’s “I Like It” does not simply have a commanding lead (1,966 spins during the aforementioned two-day window); it is also gaining at an impressive pace (+12.0%) over last week.

While that song will surely hit a ceiling soon, there is no guarantee it will fall quickly enough for “Boo’d Up” – an older song – to reach #1.

A looming threat from Post Malone’s “Better Now” (#5 on building / 1,298 spins, +33%) further complicates matters.
