Weezer’s cover of “Africa” continues to make upward moves at hot adult contemporary radio. The song blasts into the Top 20 on this week’s Mediabase Hot AC chart.

Played 1,331 times during the July 8-14 tracking period, “Africa” earns #19 on this week’s chart. It was #25 last week.

This count tops last week’s mark by a healthy 472 spins. Only Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” (+543) enjoyed a greater airplay gain.

“Africa” concurrently rises to #6 at Weezer’s core alternative radio format.

— As for Hot AC radio, “Africa” is the only new addition to the Top 20. There is, however, a re-entry in the form of A Great Big World’s “Younger.” Up one place, the song returns to its #20 peak.
