In February 2018, the RIAA upgraded the certification to 5x platinum.

Issued on February 26, the award confirms 5 million in US units. Each unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.

“Jar Of Hearts” reached the Top 5 at hot adult contemporary radio and Top 20 at pop radio. It peaked at #17 on the overall Billboard Hot 100.

“Jar Of Hearts” follows “A Thousand Years” (6x platinum) as the artist’s second-most-certified song in America.
