Shawn Mendes’ “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” came within 200 spins of #1 on this past week’s Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.

It is poised to move comfortably into the #1 spot this week.

“There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” received 2,451 on the first day of the August 6-12 tracking week. Up 9.1% from the count at this point last week, the tally slots Mendes’ tune at #1 on Mediabase’s building chart.

While the week is still young (and Sunday airplay can be erratic), there is every reason to believe it will hold onto its #1 position through the close of tracking.

Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito (featuring Justin Bieber)” has spent the past five weeks at #1. It is #2 on the current week’s building chart; it received 2,424 spins Sunday (-1.1%).
