Despite competition from the NBA Finals and AMC’s “Fear The Walking Dead,” Sunday’s series finale of “The Leftovers” posted week-to-week gains in adults 18-49 and overall viewership.

The gains yielded a season high in the former and a two-season high in the latter.

According to national live+same-day ratings posted by Showbuzz, Sunday’s episode drew a 0.43 adults 18-49 rating and 1.05 million overall viewers.

The numbers markedly top the 0.30 rating and 0.80 million viewer mark garnered by last week’s episode.

The adults 18-49 rating, moreover, is the show’s best since the 0.48 drawn by the second season finale. The viewership sum is the best since the 1.53 million mark posted by the first season finale (the show drew much stronger live+same-day ratings in its inaugural year).

HBO’s extended-length “The Leftovers” finale led into “Silicon Valley,” which drew a 0.44 rating and 0.86 million viewers.

Later in the night, “Last Week Tonight” drew a 0.47 and 1.22 million.
