Fifth Harmony’s “Down” Received Notable Pop Radio Airplay In SF, Miami, Myrtle Beach, More

Pop stations in San Francisco, Miami and Myrtle Beach were the song’s biggest initial supporters.

While it does not officially impact mainstream radio until June 13, Fifth Harmony’s “Down (featuring Gucci Mane)” was made available for airplay late Thursday/early Friday.

Numerous pop stations provided spins.

According to Mediabase, the biggest initial support came from 99.7 NOW. The San Francisco pop station had played “Down” 15 times by the end of Friday.

Miami’s Hits 97.3, San Francisco’s WiLD 94.9 and Myrtle Beach’s Mix 97.7 also provided substantial launch day support; each had offered 10 spins by the end of Friday.

Other key supporters include Myrtle Beach’s Energy 92.1 (9 spins), Augusta’s HD98.3 (9), Chicago’s B96 (9), Miami’s Power 96 (9), Boston’s Kiss 108 (9), Detroit’s 98.7 AMP (7), Dallas’ Hot 93.3 (7), Indianpolis’ 99.5 ZPL (7) and New York’s Z100 (7).

Another six pop stations played the song five or more times on opening day, while dozens played the song between one and four times.

In all, “Down” closed Friday with over 230 pop spins.

— “Down” also received some airplay at the rhythmic. Honolulu’s Power 104.3 was the biggest first-day supporter (7 spins).

The single also received two spins from Corpus Christi hot adult contemporary station The Beach 96.5.
