FOX Confirms Plans For Live Versions Of “A Christmas Story,” “Rent”

FOX just announced two upcoming musical events.

The network responsible for the successful “Grease Live” has just confirmed two new live musical broadcasts.

FOX first announced that it will air “A Christmas Story: The Musical” this December. Marc Platt will executive-produce the three-hour event.

Jonathan Tolins and Robert Cary will adapt the book for television, while Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will develop “several new songs.”

Shortly after confirming “A Christmas Story,” FOX revealed that it is planning a live version of “Rent.” The project will also involve Platt, who is executive-producing with the estate of Jonathan Larson.

FOX has not yet established a target broadcast date.
